People Plan Toronto

by admin last modified 2010-03-02 12:36

Join the fight for a better Toronto!

People Plan Toronto (PPT) started in early 2007 as an ad hoc committee comprised of representatives from a number of residents' associations across Toronto. We believe that Toronto's planning process has become unwieldy, overcomplicated, and far too removed from the citizens it is meant to serve.  Our mission is to change that by helping communities understand more about the planning process and advocating for reform.

On May 26, 2007, PPT brought together over 140 people from communities across the city for the Neighbourhood Planning Summit, a day-long opportunity to share information, learn some basics, brainstorm solutions and make an active plan for change.   At the end of the day, the Summit produced the People’s Plan for Toronto.

In 2008, PPT continued its outreach efforts by partnering with the St. Lawrence Centre Forum to hold three local community forums in Etobicoke, Scarborough, and North Toronto, culminating in a city-wide forum at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, "Putting the Citizen Back into Planning."  PPT continues to pursue the objectives set out in the People's Plan for Toronto, and is currently exploring the creation of a PPT Resource Centre for Toronto.  We welcome the input of citizens from across the city in the fight for a better Toronto!
