Putting the Citizen Back into Planning

Scarborough Local Forum

Scarborough Village Recreation Centre
3600 Kingston Road at Markham Road

Panelists

  • Alan Burton (Clairlea Neighbourhood Association) on how that established neighbourhood dealt with an intensive housing development along Warden Avenue
  • Ernie McCullough (Executive Director, Sheppard East Village BIA) on the challenges and long-term benefits of a new LRT line in the area
  • Lori Metcalfe (President, East Guildwood Village Community Assocation) on the community mapping project undertaken by the East Scarborough Storefront
  • Patti Fox (Residents Rising) on the demolition of the Morningside Mall and its impact on the surrounding community

People Plan Toronto in partnership with the St. Lawrence Centre Forum presents a series of local forums in Etobicoke, Scarborough, and North Toronto/North York to discuss issues around citizen engagement in the planning process, culminating in a forum at the St. Lawrence Centre on May 29th.  You will hear different perspectives on how community needs and preferences are incorporated into the planning and development of your neighbourhoods.  These summits are for residents, tenants, and business owners who wish to learn more about their neighbourhood, and for those who have knowledge and experience to share.

All events free, everyone welcome!
